When it comes to the facilities at our Bandhwari Gurukul, we have a number of dormitories consisting of beds, mattresses, pillows, sofas, chairs, and a cabinet adjacent to each bed. Each dormitory is attached with sanitised restrooms, which have 24-hour water and electricity supply. We have even installed indoor gymming equipment in our sheds to ensure that our residents are able to maintain their physical health. In the middle of all our sheds, is the common area, where most of the festivals, special occasions and major celebrations occur.
Besides this, our common area is a place where all the residents come together to interact, play outdoor sports and exercise. It is the soul of our shelter, as it creates and upholds a sense of family and community, for our residents, helping them cope with their past struggles and traumas. During the winter season, to fight the harsh and extreme weather conditions, our residents are provided with warm clothes, quilts and blankets, along with warmers and heaters, which are installed in every shed. Similarly during summers, residents are given refreshments and coolants throughout the day, along with access to water coolers, air coolers and ceiling fans in all sheds.
We have a wide range of medical facilities at our Bandwari gurukuls. Firstly, we have a dedicated rescue and transport team that escorts many residents to and from hospitals and medical centres. Besides this, we have a fully functional and regularly santisied treatment centre, with all the necessary medical equipment, along with a dedicated group of medical professionals and nurses, providing physical treatment and care. Any resident suffering from a health issue or injury, is sent to our medical centre, where he/she is given- medicines, (both allopathic and homeopathic), physiotherapy, routine checkups, bandaging, sponge baths and much more. A vaccination drive was organised at our medical centre, providing free vaccinations, to all our residents and the villagers in nearby areas.
It is essential to understand that many underprivileged people have lived a life full of neglect and immense suffering. Any government hospital or medical facility can provide physical care and treatment to homeless or abandoned people that have been victims of abuse. Such treatment will surely heal a person’s bodily wounds, but what about the mental and emotional wounds they are suffering from? At The Earth Saviours Foundation , we believe that providing physical care and attention to those in need, is merely the first step in the long process of healing the scars of abuse left on their soul. With the help of our professionally trained counsellors, we provide counselling sessions for those that are experiencing any kind of emotional trauma, caused by sexual and physical or mental abuse and harassment. By ensuring both physical and mental treatment of all our residents, we have created a community of people that are slowly recovering, both on the inside and outside.
